FAQs

What is a shared inbox and how does it work for teams?

A shared inbox in Avochato lets your entire team send and receive messages through a single phone number or live chat widget, with full visibility into every conversation. You can view all messages across the team in "All Messages," or focus on only your assigned conversations in "My Inbox." Each conversation can be assigned to a specific agent, tagged, and tracked with complete history so no context is lost when conversations switch hands.

How does Avochato assign incoming conversations to the right agent?

Avochato can automatically rotate new conversations across available team members using Auto-Assignment. You can toggle each agent on or off for the roster, set per-agent conversation limits for both SMS and Live Chat channels, and mark yourself available or unavailable at any time. For more precise routing, Skill Routing uses contact tags to match incoming conversations to agents who have the corresponding skill tag on their profile.

Can live chat conversations continue over SMS after a visitor leaves my site?

Yes. When a visitor submits your live chat widget, Avochato captures their phone number and creates a contact. If they leave the site before the conversation is resolved, your team can follow up directly via SMS, keeping the thread intact in the same conversation history without starting over.

What happens to live chat when my team is offline?

The website widget has configurable outside-office-hours behavior. You can set it to show SMS only (so visitors can still leave a message by text), disable the widget entirely with a custom message, or keep full SMS and Live Chat available around the clock. These options are configured per widget in Settings > Website Widgets.

Can I use the shared inbox with Salesforce?

Yes. Avochato's Salesforce integration automatically syncs SMS and live chat activity as tasks or activities on the matching Lead, Contact, or Case record. You can also message contacts directly from any Salesforce record, auto-create Salesforce leads when someone texts in, and use Salesforce Flow or Process Builder to trigger Avochato messages all without leaving Salesforce.
